PREST – Policy Research in Engineering, Science and Technology – was a research centre of the University of Manchester. Though the name PREST is still in use as an established “brand”, the centre is now part of a larger group of innovation researchers located within Manchester Business School, and named the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research.) PREST was founded in 1977, and has been the base for such researchers as Professors Jakob Edler, Luke Georghiou, Ken Green, Jeremy Howells, Denis Loveridge, Stan Metcalfe, Ian Miles, Marcela Miozzo, Maria Nedeva and Bruce Tether – and many other students of innovation processes and policies. (Staff numbers typically hovered around 20-25 for most of the 1990s.) Many of their publications can be quickly located by searching their names via Google Scholar and some of these can be downloaded from PREST’s website .
